About 20 years ago a young man from Portland, Maine started making collars and leashes for his beloved chocolate lab Hobie. Handmade by using rigging line, which was easy to find in a family full of commercial fishermen.
The idea to reestablish a collar and leash line came about when our sweet, happy yellow lab Mariner became ill in 2013. We could not bare the thought of loosing him, we were absolutely heartbroken and willing to do whatever it took to get him back on his feet. As this ordeal was happening, our family and friends encouraged us to offer these unique, Maine made collars and leashes to the public. Not only could it help with Mariner's medical expenses, but it would also enable us to donate to local rescue groups.
And so Mariner Lines was officially born. Because our dogs are family and we believe every dog should have a loving home and a stylish collar.
Sadly, on February 20, 2016 we said goodbye to our sweet boy. While we are missing him like crazy, we are so happy that his name lives on and that he is still taking pups on adventures with his leashes.
Since introducing our collar and leash line we have been completely overwhelmed and overjoyed with the outpouring of support and interest. We feel extremely blessed and want to thank you all for visiting Mariner Lines!
